Arbitration is a procedure by which a dispute is submitted, by agreement of the parties, to a sole arbitrator or to a panel of several arbitrators that issues an award in respect of the dispute, which is binding on the parties.

When choosing arbitration, the parties opt for a private dispute resolution procedure instead of going to the state courts.

Our experience in this area of practice:

We have successfully represented agencies of the Federal Public Administration in complex arbitration procedures (Pemex and CFE).

As interested party attorneys, we have advised the Federal Electricity Commission, obtaining a favorable award in one of the most complex and high-volume construction arbitration procedures to have been filed in Mexico, subject to the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (El Cajón hydroelectric dam).

We have considerable experience in all matters relating to the preparation of evidence filing hearings, particularly with regard to the submission of expert evidence and witnesses as one of the most important means of evidence presented in the context of arbitration, as well as the preparation of high impact executive presentations for the arbitrator or arbitration panel.

Enrique A. Hernández-Villegas, has served, as sole arbitrator, designated party arbitration and arbitration panel chairman in domestic and international arbitration procedures under the rules of the National Chamber of Commerce (CANACO) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
